What is Text to Subscribe?

Text to Subscribe lets your customers set up a recurring purchase with a single text reply. Instead of navigating a subscription portal, they simply reply to a message and they're subscribed to receive specific products from your store on a preset cadence — automatically billed and shipped each cycle. Which can be setup in your campaigns or automations.

How does it work?

1. You choose which products are eligible for Text to Subscribe, and the available subscription cadence options are pulled directly from the selling plans you've configured in Shopify.

2. We send your customer a message offering the subscription — for example, after a purchase: "Want your [Product] delivered every 30 days? Reply YES to subscribe."

3. The customer replies, and they're subscribed. No login, no checkout flow, no app.

4. Each cycle, the order is placed automatically using their payment method on file, and they get a text confirmation before it ships.

Which products can customers subscribe to?

Any product you choose to make eligible. Text to Subscribe works best for consumables and replenishables from your Shopify store.

How are customers billed?

Orders are charged to the payment method the customer has on file [via OneText one-click payments].

Do customers need to opt in?

Yes. Subscriptions only start when a customer explicitly replies to confirm a purchase with a selling plan. This keeps everything compliant and keeps your subscriber list full of people who actually want to be there.
