MMS (Multimedia Messaging Service) supports images, gifs, contact cards, and longer character counts, delivering a richer experience than SMS (at a higher price).
At a glance: all media sent via MMS must be 512kb or less. Need help reducing the size of your media? Read our suggestions below!
Images must be less than 512kb to send via MMS. OneText will automatically compress uploaded images, but this can sometimes result in unpleasant pixelation and artifacts. If you see issues with pixelation, we recommend resizing images prior to upload—this will result in less compression. Here’s how:
Open the image in Preview and inspect the size. We recommend 500-800 pixels on its longest edge.

Select “Adjust Size” under Tools.

Enter “500” pixels for the longest edge and set the resolution to 72 pixels/inch. When your “Resulting Size” is less than 500kb, you’re all set!

Your image will be resized to smaller dimensions, without sacrificing quality.

GIFs must also be less than 512kb to send via MMS. We recommend an online tool like Ezgif to resize your GIF for sending via MMS.
OneText supports sending contact cards (in .vcard) format. Simply use a tool like vCard Maker to create your brand's contact card file. You can add a profile picture, website URL, and any relevant contact information you'd like your customers to know.
When your contact card is ready, send the file to the OneText success team via Slack or email—our team will add it to your requested campaigns and automations!
Sending video (.mp4) and audio (.mp3) files is available upon request. Reach out to your CSM to set this up!
